Big changes are coming to the cereal aisle! WK Kellogg says it will remove artificial colors from its entire cereal portfolio by the end of 2026, one year earlier than originally planned.
Kellogg’s Removing Artificial Colors From All Cereals by End of 2026
The update includes the remaining brightly colored cereals that still use artificial colors, including Kellogg’s Froot Loops and Apple Jacks. The company plans to use colors derived from natural sources such as fruit and vegetable juices and other plant-based ingredients.
What Shoppers Can Expect
- Artificial colors will be removed from the full cereal portfolio by the end of 2026.
- Froot Loops and Apple Jacks are included in the reformulation.
- The updated cereals will use colors from fruit, vegetable and plant-based sources.
- Kellogg says the cereals should keep the familiar taste, aroma and colorful appearance shoppers expect.
- The company is also removing the preservative BHT from the small number of cereal packages that still contain it.
When Will the New Cereals Arrive?
Production using the updated recipes is expected to begin later this year, with the reformulated cereals shipping to retailers before the end of 2026. Shoppers may see both versions on shelves for a while as stores sell through their existing inventory.
