My Target Haul – Cheap Cereal, Old El Paso & More!

target-haulI went to Target today to see what General Mills Cereals are included in the Sale and Gift Card promotion.

Before we get into the details of my purchase, I can solve that mystery right now…. Here’s what I found that was included (prices listed are what I found in my store today):

  • General Mills Chocolate Toast Crunch – $2.69
  • General Mills Multi-Grain Cheerios Dark Chocolate Crunch – $2.69
  • General Mills Fiber One Protein – $2.99
  • Post Honey Bunches of Oats Morning Energy – $3.24
  • Post Poppin Pebbles – $3.14
  • Quaker Real Medleys Cold Cereal – $3.49
  • Kellogg’s Krave Smores – $2.64
  • Kind Bagged Granola – $4.99
  • Bakery on Main Bagged Granola – $5.49
  • Udi’s Bagged Granola – $5.49
  • Dorset Cereals – $4.99

Oddly enough, I didn’t find ANY of these on the cereal aisle.  I found an endcap on the backside of the grocery aisles (not even at the end of the cereal aisle), that had the majority of the participating items.  Then there was a cash register display up front with just the Fiber One and Cheerios varieties.  If you’re looking for these cereals, just know going in you will literally have to LOOK FOR THEM.  Crazy.

I fully intended to split up my transactions into 2 so I could get a bigger bang for my buck with the Target Cartwheel App.  (The 5% OFF GM Cereals offer will only come off on up to 4 boxes per transaction, but you can do up to 6 transactions.)  I’m not one to go crazy doing multiple transactions, but I did split half of my cereals into a separate transaction on the belt.  My cashier was pretty new and he didn’t notice the divider bar, and he jumped right over it.  When he realized what he had done, he was more than willing to void off what I wanted.  I opted to give the poor guy a break.  That extra 5% on my few boxes of cereal wasn’t going to amount to much… plus my GM Cereal was actually $0.30 cheaper than what I had expected.  (If you find the General Mills Cereals for $2.69 like I did, it will be FREE with the Cartwheel and (3) $1/1 Coupons, After your gift card!)

I ended up doing just one transaction…. but I walked out with $25 in gift cards!

Be sure and check your 12/8 Red Plum inserts if you’re going for the Quaker.  I completely forgot to look at mine so I just grabbed the $0.75/2 coupons that were in today’s paper.  Some people received a $1/1 Quaker Coupon in their 12/8 inserts, and that’s a MUCH better coupon!

old-el-paso-gift-card-targetThere’s a Gift Card Offer running right now on several items throughout the store, including the Old El Paso Refried Beans.  The signs say ‘FREE $5 Gift Card when you buy (10) participating Meal and Baking Items‘.  I had already planned to buy the Taco Shells tonight because my 11 year old requested tacos for dinner.  The shells are not included in the gift card offer (the dinner kits are, but I only needed the shells).  The BEANS are included!

If you need to stock up on Refried Beans (I was out) you can do this deal:

BUY (10) Old El Paso Refried Beans – $1.15 Each
Subtotal: $11.50
USE: (3) $0.60/3 Old El Paso Products; Excludes Refrigerated, Frozen and Soup – 1-5-14 SS
Pay $9.70, Get Back $5 Gift Card
= $4.70 or $0.47 per Can!

I like to stock up on refried beans when I can get them for $0.50 or less so this was a great deal for me!
